Mid-East Regional Yo-Yo Championships
The 1st Annual Mid-East Regional Yo-Yo Championships will be held August 31, 2002, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, in scenic Twinsburg, Ohio. (We call it scenic because there are lots of trees.) The contest will be held in the Ballroom of the Hilton Garden Inn, located at SR 82 and I-480. The event is hosted by Duncan Toys and U.S. National Yo-Yo Master Steve Brown.
This year's contest is being held as a qualifier for the National Yo-Yo Contest. The top placing Single A and Double A freestyle contestant from the Mid-East Region will be guaranteed a freestyle slot at the National Yo-Yo Competition to be held in Chico, California this October.

Contest Updates
August 14th - Ok, so there has been a little confusion about the contest with a few people. The region specified is ONLY for seeding purposes into the National Yo-Yo Contest. If you aren't in this region, you can still come to the event, compete, and even win! You just won't get the guaranteed freestyle spot at Nationals.

August 12th - Wow. It made it onto all the flyers, but somehow it didn't make it onto the website. There will be a admission fee for competitors. You can bring as many aunts and uncles as you want, everyone gets to watch for free. But if you are competing, it's gonna cost you 5 bucks. Highly reasonable amount, all money goes towards paying for the contest space.
Also, we have been granted AYYA Sanctioning. This means Big Rick Wyatt is going to attempt to break his own World Record for Longest Spin Time. I've seen him practice...you may want to bring a book. Staring at a spinning yo-yo for longer than 10 minutes makes me grind my teeth.
August 8th - We are waiting confirmation for AYYA Sanctioning. Should be any day now. Rick Wyatt has announced that if we are granted sanctioning, he will attempt to break his own World Record for longest spin time!
Also, Friday night there will be a BBQ Party at Steve's house! Everyone is invited, bring a dish if you want to, but there will be plenty of food! We will be grilling, so if you are vegetarian or vegan, please bring your own veggie burgers. I have no idea which ones are the good ones, so you're better off choosing your own! ;) Maps will be available at the hotel, and my address is on the Contact page. Yahoo Maps really works, trust me.
July 3rd - Special Hotel rate of 99 dollars per night has been confirmed! Simply tell them you are coming for the Yo-Yo Contest.
Tennessee has been added to the Mid-East Region!
June 14th - Judges have been confirmed!
